Dr. Claude Fontaine was raised in Rhode Island. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Boston College in 1979. Dr. Fontaine received his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1982, and then completed a one year hospital-based General Practice Residency at Tufts University and its affiliated hospitals. While practicing general dentistry in Winchester & Boston, MA he served as a Clinical Instructor in Radiology at Tufts University.
He completed training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from 1987-1991 at the Tufts/Boston University combined program. Following his surgical training, Dr. Fontaine began practicing Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in Arlington, MA.
He and Dr. Lechtenberg established Commonwealth Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical Associates, Inc. in 1998.
Dr. Fontaine enjoys practicing Oral Surgery with a special interest in the placement of dental implants and grafting procedures.
Dr. Fontaine is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and a member of Massachusetts Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
He is on the staff of Mt. Auburn Hospital, Lahey Clinic and Franciscan Children’s Hospital.
He is a certified instructor for CPR & and the use of the Automated Electronic Defibrillator (AED). He also is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Dr. Fontaine enjoys boating, exercise & traveling.
